Cabbage Stir Fry with Coconut

Cabbage is a very healthy and leafy vegetable. It has lots of vitamins and fiber. You can prepare cabbage in different ways, here I am going to share the recipe which I love!

What all you'll need?

  • Cabbage- 1 medium sized
  • Shredded Coconut- 1/2 cup
  • Green Chili- 4-5(depending on how spicy you can handle)
  • Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder- 1 teaspoon
  • Red Chili Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Urad dal- 1 teaspoon
  • Dried Red Chili - 1
  • Curry leaves - A bunch
  • Coconut Oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - To taste


Let's cook it!!

  1. Cut cabbage into very small pieces.
  2. In a mixer coarsely grind coconut, cumin seeds and green chili.
  3. Heat a pan and add the oil. Once the oil is warm add mustard seeds, urad dal, dried red chili and curry leaves. Wait for the mustard seeds to splutter and the urad dal to turn light brown in color.
  4. Add the chopped cabbage to the pan. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt. Let it cook in simmer for 5-10 minutes.Saute in between so that it won't burn in the bottom of the pan.
  5. When the cabbage is tender add the ground coconut mixture and turn off the stove.
Cabbage Stir Fry with Coconut is ready to be served with hot rice.
